Welcome to Arecibo Radio

Arecibo Radio seeks the odd, the strange, the outlandish, the unknown, and the oft-disregarded. We focus on underground and niche programs dedicated to certain cultures, communities, and forums that often have deep roots and ties with such communities.

If this is your first time visiting Arecibo Radio, welcome. We have several shows which air at various times. For more information on when they air, go to the schedule, and for more info about each show, you can check them out here. On each show page is an archive player which houses past episodes for your listening/downloading pleasure.

If you want to listen to the stream on your iPhone, go to the bottom of the radio page for information on how.

If you want to promote Arecibo Radio, please head on over to the promos page. There is always music playing, even when no show is scheduled, so please tune in and tell your friends!

Hey guys, if you've been paying attention, there's a couple of new shows headed to Arecibo Radio. The first is called "Geekcred", with CrazySpai as it's host. It will air every Friday night at 8 PM EST. Join CrazySpai and his co-hosts and guests for a semi-coherent and semi-illuminating discussion on new technologies, news, and occasional music, as well as various goings-ons on the internet.

January 13, 2010 - RT9 on Arecibo

Last night we had a nice little treat, with RhymeTorrents Volume 9, CD 1 being broadcast for the first time, live on Arecibo Radio! Thanks to Danger Aaron and MC NARS, and everyone who took part in RT9. Stay Tuned with us, there might be more coming very soon!

Hopefully, this is the start of a beautiful friendship with RhymeTorrents and all of its awesome members.

January 6, 2010 - Aaaaaand, We're Back!

Quite a holiday it's been, huh? After server deaths, a killed stream, and a pretty penny, Arecibo Radio is finally back up and running! There are loads of changes under the hood (which you probably won't notice), and everything should be stable now. There is really only 1 casualty: the forums. Due to some incompetence (sorry), the old forum database was lost. In its place is a brand new one, with redone boards and almost 0 members! So if you were a member, sign up again, and if you're new, sign up anyway!

Besides that, things should be back to normal, so get listening!

Also, we now have a Facebook page! Become a fan today!

Also, Happy New Year! (2010, oh god)

December 8, 2009 - Nitro Injection, now on Arecibo Radio!

Aaaaaaannnd another show added! This time, Nitro Injection, a spinoff show from the popular podcast, Nitro Game Injection. Both are hosted by KyleJCrb, and I encourage you to welcome him to Arecibo Radio by joining him in the chat during his shows on Mondays, from 2 to 4 PM EST. The show will be mostly VGM and VGIM, along with a few other surprises mixed in.

Check out the show page for more info.

December 2, 2009 - WEFUNK, now on Arecibo Radio!

Hey guys, been awhile hasn't it? We've been busy working on things behind the scenes, and we have a couple of new shows coming soon. One that has been on Arecibo for a couple of weeks, but we never got around to announcing it, is WEFUNK Radio. WEFUNK is a weekly radio show that has been broadcasting since the mid-90's. Arecibo Radio will be playing 3 mixes on Saturdays and Sundays. Tune in for some premium hiphop, funk, soul and jazz.

Check out the show page for more info.

November 6, 2009 - New stream... seriously.

Finally! New stream is up and running now. Over the next few weeks, there will be a lot of new scheduled shows being added, as part of the new autodj. You may have to clear your browser cache in order for the webplayer to connect. If you have any problems, email me.

Also, check out the new Banner/Bumper Sticker available for free download on the Promos page.

November 1, 2009 - Daylight Saving Time...

... has ended, for now. Good riddance. The schedule hasn't changed (if a show was on at 9 PM, it's still on at 9 PM), just make sure that if you are in a timezone not affected by DST to readjust your listening schedule by -1 hour.

Besides that, I hope you had a nice Halloween, and keep checking up on us; more updates coming soon. :-)

October 24, 2009 - New stream

Just wanted to keep you guys up-to-date.

We have a new shoutcast stream on the way (not an additional, a replacement). This one will allow us to have almost unlimited listeners (as opposed to the 25 listener max on the current/old one), and unlimited space for autodj material and other such content (as opposed to the 1 GB of space before, of which we used 992 MB).

It should be up within the next couple of days.

krhyme's Live Rap Battle and Cypher Nerdcore Show: Episode 2 - August 28, 2009
and of course...
Beyond Tomorrow, with n0c: - August 14, 2009

I've got a bunch of other favorites, but they aren't on the archives, so no sense in putting them here. I suggest you guys check out these episodes, and dont forget to tune in to our other awesome shows! (inb4 i get yelled at for not picking other people's favorites)

October 21, 2009 - NEW WEBSITE!

We have completely redone the entire website!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

The webplayer is now center stage, and each show has its own page along with archives of past shows available on that page. The website also reflects a change in art direction for Arecibo Radio, similar to that shown on the various promotional items.

Our schedule has been updated as well, with a couple of new shows, and a few old ones scrapped. Those old ones that have archived shows however, are still preserved, so you can still listen to the old stuff.

The forums are still undergoing a cosmetic change, so beware of minor faults here and there.

Theres a bunch of other updates here and there, so browse the site and check it all out. And of course, listen in on the all-new webplayer!

October 1, 2009 - Stream Change
The stream relay was acting funny and turning itself off, so we have changed back to the original stream. All the webplayers and links to the stream have been changed as well, so you shouldn't encounter any problems.

September 9, 2009 - Musical Freedom
I posted a piece in the forums about Nerdcore culture (and the music industry in general), specifically my philosophy towards the culture and how uploading/downloading/sharing is and should be viewed. Check it out HERE. Spread the word everywhere. I think its time we took back music.

September1, 2009 - Arecibo Art
Downloadable desktop backgrounds for everyone! (limit 1,000 per customer)

And for those of you wanting to spread the greatness that is AreciboRadio, HERE is a high-res promo poster that you can print-out for distribution all over your wonderful town. :)

August 18, 2009 - Thank You!
We would just like to thank everyone involved with the Launch Party. We thought everyone did a fantastic job, and exceeded our expectations, especially those who stepped in to fill in the spots that had become open for one reason or another. Also, thank you to all of the listeners who tuned in to check us out. We appreciate every little bit, and would LOVE some feedback (check out the contact page ). If you happened to miss the event, we have most of it available for listening/downloading in the OnDemand content on the Radio page.

We have quite a few plans for this radio, and a few aces up our sleeves, so please stay tuned, and don't forget to spread the word!

Free Internet Radio is here to stay!
